His postgraduate fellowship in joint replacement and arthritis reconstructive surgery was completed at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, preceeded by internship and residency training in orthopaedic surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Dr. Reff's initial medical training was at Columbia University and New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Reff served as Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff of South Bay Medical Center, and is currently on staff at Little Company of Mary Hospital and Torrance Memorial Hospital.

Total Joint Health
At the earliest signs of joint pain, Dr. Reff invites you to see him for an initial exam and consultation. He then discusses a range of options with you for your best care, which may include exercise, physical therapy, medication, or in some cases surgery. You learn ways to relieve pain, increase joint range of motion, and build strength for healthier joints long-term.
Joint Reconstructive Surgery
Surgical correction of arthritic, painful, and/or deformed joints with joint replacement procedures has been the major part of Dr. Reff’s practice. Throughout his career, he has always been at the forefront of the evolution in advanced joint replacement techniques.
Video arthroscopy can correct many knee and shoulder problems, with minimal scarring, minimal disability, and usually no overnight hospitalization. Both chronic and acute ligament, joint, and cartilage injuries can be successfully repaired using this approach.
A quick and correct diagnosis is key to the successful recovery from any sports injury. When correct treatment and rehabilitation methods are started right away, you can return to normal activity with as little down-time as possible.
Minimally Invasive and Computer-Assisted Surgery
Dr. Reff is known and respected in both the local and medical community for his meticulous surgical skill. He is a leader in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS), the most advanced form of joint reconstructive surgery now available. It means that he can correct, repair, and replace damaged joints with as little impact to you as possible.
The newest emerging technology to advance total joint surgery is Computer-Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery. This approach, especially when combined with MIS technique, further aids in the accurate positioning of artificial joints. Once again at the forefront of advancements that will most help his patients, Dr. Reff is completing a study of the first 200 total joint replacements done with computer assisted techniques.
